Chinese’s special favor for jade started from the imperial time, more than gold and other jade articles. A jade pendant, being glabrous and soft, was called “humanity”; being invulnerable and harmless to human skin after breaking called “righteousness”; being in order when hanging up called “courtesy”; being clear and beautiful while knocking at it called “pleasure”; virtues and flaws being in its natural place called “loyalty”; every Chinese cherish and love for it called “morality”, therefore it obtained the preference from ancient people. Now Wende company collects a large quantity of fine ancient jade articles through Western Zhou period, Spring and Autumn period, Warring States period , involving various kinds of jade decoration and ritual wares as follows: A Jade Ge (length:14.5cm), Western Zhou period, is evaluated at the price of ¥40,000. Being brownish yellow with a slight of transparency, the sword appears to be a triangle with sharp edges on both sides. A hole piercing in the middle and the back divided into six denticulate forms, the whole article is decorated with plainness and delicacy. Ge as a battle tool was popular in Shang dynasty and later used as the symbol of power and status on important occasions for maintaining dominators’ dignities due to its fragile texture. (see pic. 1)
